Nine Star Wars games and nine companies we’d like to see come together now that the license is open to other developers

Companies, developers, Games, license, Open, Star, Wars, wed

Now that the ties of Star Wars have been released – and there will be more options than offered by EA– seems like the perfect time to get carried away by imagination and dreaming of what we could achieve if the stars were aligned.

Nine games that, with the right ideas and a company that does them justice, could well become calendar hits. Ubisoft taking care of an open world of Star Wars It’s just the beginning, and hopefully what follows is a bit like things like this.

Massive Entertainment and an open world of Star Wars

Massive

We have them in mind for The Division but we are before the team that closed the Ezio trilogy in style in Assassin’s Creed and gave us that jewel called Far Cry 3. They are also responsible for the Snowdrop Engine. Come on, they play the sea well and have it very easy to create an adventure that does justice to the saga.

Remedy with a Control / Mandalorian

Remedy Mando

Anyone who’s gotten into the shootings of Control and exchange the flying powers for a jetpack, and its protagonist for the Mandaloriano, you know what to expect with the proposal.

In fact, I can’t think of a better use of the Force in a video game than the one we saw from the creators of Alan Wake and Max Payne (what Rockstar Going back to shooters wouldn’t be bad either). History, gameplay and setting, three pillars in which they have repeatedly shown their good work.

Omega Force con un musou de Star Wars

Omega Force

Ahsoka Tano handing out tow and tearing down dozens of Imperial soldiers with her combination of two lightsabers. Does it look good or does it look good? A musou de Star Wars in which pulling great characters with even more striking powers and weapons is something that sells itself. Give me ten.

Codemasters y Star Wars Episode 1 Racer

Codemasters

The remastering has its why for that of nostalgia, but here the key is in the untapped potential of pod racing. Star Wars Episode 1 Racer. Give the idea to someone with a good hand in driving games like Codemasters (Playground Games are busy with their Fable) and you will see what can come out of there.

NetherRealm and Masters of Teras Kasi

Masters

If they have nailed it with DC, how can they not do the same with Darth Vader, Boba Fett and company? It is worth that beyond the purists many of us continue to think that Masters of Teras Kasi I was a championship chestnut, but if we’ve had a Star Wars dance game, a fighting game should already be on the way.

Creative Assembly y Galactic Battlegrounds

Creaticw

One of the most prominent cases on the list and probably the ideal one to shout “Where to sign?”. I still remember the sleepless nights that I spent playing the saga Galactic Battlegrounds, an Age of Empires strategy franchise that was a real treat. It’s time to give him a second life, or opt for a new strategy saga, of course.

Bungie con un FPS de Star Wars

Bungie

Something went wrong with Star Wars Battlefront and its sequel, two games called to create a school and that for one thing or another ended up working well below expectations.

You have to recognize DICE that they did their part and that the launch of the films and the rush did more harm than good, but perhaps handing over the baton to someone like Bungie can serve to have a pan of galactic shots with renewed energy.

Japan Studios and a platform with R2D2

Japan Studio

Let no child run out of their Star Wars ration. If in all of the above there is no space for them, perhaps there is in a AstroBot make it more than a demo or a game to fatten the virtual reality catalog.

If a Star Wars license falls into Japan Studios with total creative and budget freedom, having a platform game with R2D2 as the protagonist is having all the fish sold before you start mincing code. More or less as in LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga.

Team Ninja con un Jedi Power Battles Ultimate Alliance

Jedi Power

As in all the previous cases there is no need for remakes or rehashes, we prefer original ideas that recover that same concept. But be aware that here there is the possibility of stopping the heart of more than one. Give the creators of Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 the opportunity to regain the idea of Jedi Power Battles and you will see how more than one nostalgic ends up with tears in his eyes.
