Samurai, cars, machine guns: all of this is in the upcoming title from former Vice boss Patrick Söderlund and his ex-Battlefield developers. The mysterious game, codenamed Project Discovery, was originally scheduled to come out after Embark Studios’ other project, Arc Raiders. However, plans have changed.
What is Project Discovery?
We still know very little about the game. However, it is apparently a team-based first person shooter. The studio also released a little bit of gameplay back in November last year:

Of course, after this short video, many questions remain unanswered – which unfortunately cannot be answered yet. However, Embark Studios has already announced that it will be revealing more soon – with Gamescom just around the corner, this would be a fitting occasion.
Why the change of plan?
The Free2Play shooter Arc Raiders was originally supposed to be released later this year and Project Discovery sometime after that. Like the developers announce it in a blog postthe development work on Project Discovery went better and faster than planned, which is why Embark Studios has now decided to bring the title forward and Arc Raiders erst 2023 to publish. That would also be positive for Arc as they can now put even more time into PvP mode for the Free2Play shooter.
The title is by no means the only project that fell victim to a release postponement this year. A summary of all delayed games 2022 can be found here:

It is still unclear when Project Discovery will appear. However, a release this year is not too unlikely considering that Arc Raiders has been pushed back to 2023.
