Due to the lockdowns in the context of the corona crisis in the Asian countries, Nintendo had been struggling with severe delivery problems since mid-February. It went so far that the switch was barely available in some regions. Nintendo was unable to replenish the stores' stores, especially as the lockdowns had increased demand in parallel.

After the situation in the manufacturing countries for components and console has eased somewhat, Nintendo now wants to increase production. In any case, Nintendo expects to produce around ten percent more consoles in 2020. Suppliers and assembly companies were informed that additional quantities are to be produced from April to June. Some suppliers have already received orders that are up to 50 percent above the original planning.

"We hope that suppliers will accommodate us in increasing production, but for some components the outlook is still uncertain, so we cannot predict how many switches will be shipped," Nintendo spokesman told Nikkei. It will probably take a few weeks before the increase in production takes effect.
