Nintendo Direct: Report: No June issue after E3 cancellation

Cancellation, Direct, issue, June, Nintendo, Report

Nintendo regularly broadcast a direct conference with new announcements on the occasion of E3 in June. This year the fair was canceled due to the corona virus – and therefore the direct edition could possibly also be canceled.

While a number of other market participants are considering digital events as a replacement for the blown-off E3 2020 in Los Angeles and want to broadcast it via stream, Nintendo fans may be watching the tube. On the occasion of the important industry fair in June, the Japanese made regular announcements in the form of a special edition of the video format Direct.

In this respect, it would not have meant a major change for Nintendo that the fair itself does not take place. Finally, the E3-Direct was also regularly produced and only broadcast at a certain time; Nintendo had not had a live event at E3 for a long time. However, the company may now be dispensing with Direct in June entirely.

At least that's what a new report by VentureBeat's English-speaking colleagues suggests. Nintendo now has no plans for a Direct in June. The manufacturer has now communicated this to partners accordingly. The restricted working conditions due to COVID-19 in Japan should also play a role here. It is only later in summer 2020 that there will be a more comprehensive new direct edition.
