Sony and Microsoft have already submitted, and now what about Nintendo? The Japanese also apparently want to present the upcoming games as part of a showcase as soon as possible. The next Nintendo Direct will probably take place next week!
Microsoft presented the Xbox Developer Direct, Sony followed suit with a PlayStation State of Play – both competitors have already presented upcoming titles for their current consoles. And what is Nintendo doing? Even Switch fans apparently don’t have to wait long until the first big event.
The Japanese also traditionally hold a direct conference in February – and if reliable leakers are to be believed, then the new year 2024 will be no exception. It should be ready next week.
Initially, Nintendo Universe reported, citing unnamed sources, that the next Nintendo Direct was scheduled for next week – and even brought a specific date into play: February 15, 2024. NateTheHate2, one of the most reliable insiders in the games industry, didn’t want to go that far, but according to his information, the direct conference will be broadcast next week.
Since 2019, Nintendo has held the first Direct of the year in February every year, but in this case an official announcement is still pending. However, it seems that this should not be long in coming.
And what is there to see then? Bold optimists are certainly hoping for an unveiling of the new Switch 2 console, but February might still be too early for that. The focus is likely to be on upcoming Switch blockbusters. It wouldn’t be bad, for example, if there was finally news about the long-awaited Metroid Prime 4 as part of the Direct conference.
More recent reports also brought a Switch version of the previous Xbox exclusive game Hi-Fi Rush into play, which should also become part of the Direct conference – if Microsoft really ends up announcing and launching its new multiplatform strategy.
