Nintendo has sent a request to Facepunch Studios to remove all Nintendo-related content from sandbox game Garry’s Mod. This content has been a staple of the game for nearly two decades.
The flexibility and openness that Garry’s Mod says My city is said to have been significantly enriched by the inclusion of Nintendo characters and contributed to the game’s success.
The developers of Garry’s Mod are said to have publicly accepted Nintendo’s decision to protect their content. In addition, Facepunch Studios confirmed that the removal was not a mistake, but rather a conscious response to legal demands.
In a statement on the Steam page of the game, they stated that it was a fair move since it was ultimately Nintendo’s property. The process of removing content is already underway.
