After the surprising price increase of the PlayStation 5, Microsoft has ruled out such an increase in relation to the Xbox Series X/S for the moment. But what about Nintendo with regard to the switch? Here, too, there is now an official statement!
Like Microsoft, the Japanese company Nintendo currently has no plans to increase the price of its current console, Nintendo Switch, in view of the supply difficulties and the global economic environment. In short: Sony remains the only one on the market with its PlayStation 5, but everything remains the same with its competitors – at least for the moment.
The colleagues from Eurogamer received an official statement from Nintendo, which currently excludes a switch price increase despite the production costs and the great inflation. Specifically it says:
“As our President Mr. Furukawa communicated at the 82nd Annual General Meeting of Shareholders in June, ‘While we cannot comment on pricing strategies, we currently have no plans to increase the price of our hardware in any way due to inflation and increased production costs country. We will use careful and continued consideration to guide our future pricing strategies.'”
And further: “While the final retail price is always set by the retailers, Nintendo – as Mr. Furukawa has testified – has no further plans to increase the retail price of its hardware.”
At least those interested in a switch can breathe easy for the moment and will probably not have to fear a price increase in the medium term.
