In October, Nintendo confirmed that in a more expensive Switch Online model, N64 classics will also be playable on the Switch in the future. Now another new addition is reported.
In contrast to the competition from Sony or Microsoft, Nintendo publishes its free games rather irregularly as part of a subscription to Switch Online. As is well known, the more expensive level of the Expansion Pack, which also brings N64 classics to the Switch, has also been available since October. Little had happened on this front since then, but there are now supplies again just in time for the cold season.
The Japanese have now confirmed that the classic RPG Paper Mario from the N64 era will come to the Switch. The 2001 classic will be available next week via Switch Online Expansion Pack; it will be the first addition since the announcement of the N64 games in October.
As is so often the case, the plumber Mario has to compete against the adversary Bowser in the Mushroom Kingdom and, among other things, free Princess Peach from his clutches. Compared to the classic platformer gameplay, however, Paper Mario has turn-based RPG mechanics.
In October, as part of the Switch Online Expansion Pack, nine N64 titles were initially available on the Switch, including Mario Kart 64 and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Nintendo has also promised other well-known representatives of earlier days such as The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask, Banjo-Kazooie, Pokémon Snap, Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards, Mario Golf or F-Zero X for the coming months.
First of all, Paper Mario will celebrate its debut on December 10th as part of the Switch Online Expansion Pack.
