After Sony with PS Plus and Microsoft with Xbox Live Gold, Nintendo now also has a paid digital service on the Switch. Now the Japanese have published fresh figures around this.
In a management briefing, Nintendo commented on the current situation of the online service Nintendo Switch Online. The paid subscription has therefore attracted around six million players since the announcement of user numbers last year.
Nintendo Switch owners can play online with friends via Switch Online. In addition, paying customers also get access to Nintendo classics from earlier days at irregular intervals, which up to now were mainly at home on NES and SNES. According to the briefing, over 32 million Switch customers are now using this offer.
The briefing said that the company would continue to work on improving and expanding Switch Online and the Expansion Pack. As part of the more expensive Expansion Pack, subscribers will in future also receive N64 and Genesis classics – including optional suitable controllers. For example, Mario Kart 64, an absolute classic in gaming history, can be played online with up to four players for the first time.
The Switch Online Expansion Pack costs 39.99 dollars for 12 months.
