Nintendo Switch: Report: Pro model still not in sight

There has always been speculation in the past about a more powerful Pro model of the Nintendo Switch, but such a model does not seem to be directly on the Japanese agenda.

Accordingly, there will probably be no Nintendo Switch Pro in the coming months, like the renowned Japanese magazine Nikkei now emphasized again. Background: On the occasion of the announcement of current business figures, Nintendo also dared to look into the immediate future and confirmed in this context that no release of a new switch model was planned in the current financial year.

Nintendo’s current fiscal year ends on March 31, 2023, which means a Switch Pro is definitely off the table for the coming months. So if you are thinking about buying a switch, you don’t necessarily have to wait for a possible Pro model, which could be available from April 2023 at the earliest – but that would also be a rather atypical date.

Even though there have been numerous rumors in the past, Nintendo has never officially confirmed a Pro model to date. Whether such a thing will actually come remains questionable – but a switch successor is also off the table for the time being at least until next year.

Interested parties can currently secure one of three different switch models: In addition to the regular switch, there is the portable and cheaper Switch Lite, which eliminates the functionalities of the platform as a home console, and the more expensive OLED version with a better display.

Most recently, the sales figures for the switch had fallen noticeably, mainly due to the ongoing chip crisis and supply situation.
