Owners of Nintendo Switch Sports can look forward to a major update with a new sport this week.
Anyone who has purchased Nintendo Switch Sports will be able to try out the new sport of basketball later this week. This was previously presented in a trailer as part of the Nintendo Direct Showcase in June, but there was no specific release date yet.
That has now changed, as Nintendo confirmed via X that the basketball update for Nintendo Switch Sports will be available from July 10, 2024. The new sport will then expand the existing selection to include golf, soccer, volleyball, bowling, tennis, badminton and chambara. Both casual and ranked games will then be supported, both locally and in online modes.
With the Joy-Con controller, you can simulate dribbling the ball in basketball and then use your arm movements to make shots at the basket. Additional modes allow for shootout competitions with up to four friends or even shooting practice from the three-point line, which can be done solo.
By March 2024, Nintendo Switch Sports had sold over 13 million copies, making it one of the best-selling Switch games ever.
