Earlier this week, the Nintendo of America Twitter account posted a tweet that made players aware that it would be shutting down servers to investigate issues with Nintendo Switch Sports. “A bug was discovered in the Nintendo Switch Sports Ver1.2.1 update that caused the software to close during the pre-game loading screen,” the tweet reads. “Unfortunately, this affects both online and offline game modes. Therefore, we are temporarily pausing the rollout of this update.”

in a follow up tweetsNintendo continued: “While we investigate to find a solution, the Nintendo Switch Sports servers will be temporarily offline, during which online play will not be possible. Save data backups are also temporarily suspended. We apologize for the inconvenience. apology.”

Nintendo first reported the bug on October 14, and has since not said when it expected to bring the servers back online, nor has it provided any updates on how things are going.

Switch Sports has been continuously updating the game since its launch, such as adding some new volleyball moves over the summer, leg strap support for soccer games, and adding S Rank and Infinity Rank in Pro League.

Switch Sports is a bit of a surprise, as it came out long after the original Wii Sports, and Nintendo took the time to explain why in May.
