There are rumors that Nintendo wants to add Sora as a character in the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Edition, but Disney Japan rejected the request.
Rumors come from Kinda Funny Games, which claims Nintendo "praises Disney" about adding Sora from Kingdom Hearts to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Edition, But it was "Disney Japan" that "specially" cancelled the idea.
Why didn't Disney want to include the character, but fans asked for Solara more than once (thanks to Nintendo Everything).
The most recent character to add to the game is Byleth in January's Fire Emblem: Three Houses. There are rumors that Crash Bandicoot will also be released as a fighter.
