The trick to this fight is knowing when to stop and when to avoid, and moving on when you have an advantage. Here is my first blind attempt on Nioh 2, this is a successful attempt. It was a very messy walkthrough, but showed how to stop most of his hits and when to dodge.
If you are not careful, Maeda Toshiro can parry your melee combo, so don't hit his guard too much.
His Ki regenerates like lightning, but it may exhaust him. To do this, you can use active skills or attack immediately after he launches a series of attacks and his Ki fails.
The most frustrating part of this battle is that Toshile seems to be able to pull random combinations everywhere. Similar to Saika Magoichi, you cannot be too p assive or you will be plagued by spam.
My strategy is to use my main weapon to stop any conventional attacks while avoiding fire and Ki's blows, including high thrust.
To this end, I made a hybrid armor suit that reduced the chance of dodge to make it easier to break into and punish the small window at the end of the combo.
The naughty tricks you can rely on in other boss fights don't really work here. He moves so fast that his arrows and ocean skills are not as effective. If you are an absolute god, you can parry his regular hits-no overhead shots, but timing is difficult.
Don't be greedy, try to fiddle with him like I did in the video, he just wastes clicks and stabs you.
You need to pay attention to some interesting guardian spirit actions. The first is where he stamps and summons the fireball. It's easy to step back and dodge sideways to avoid.
Otherwise, he would stamp and a bright white flash would surround his weapon. When this happens, you need to be in good shape to avoid absolute spam.
After you have reduced his life by half, his attacks seem to be even more crazy, so if you use this skill, it's time to use a lazy talisman.
Usually, the same strategy continues. You can stop most of his hits-even when he runs across the area of the spear-to retaliate at the end of the combo. When he attacks you, it's not worth trying to pinch. The tracking of the spear attack is too strong, so be patient and wait for the opportunity.
Continue your blocking, counterattack, dodge, counterattack mode until his health is reduced to 25%. At this point, you can use Yokai Shift to waste the rest of his life.
