For my money, playing games for the first time Saika Magoichi is one of the toughest bosses in the entire Nioh 2 – If not the worst.
Although this fight may seem simple at first, due to his bullet spam, the way you play is different from the way you have encountered before. The challenge is not insurmountable, but you may need some luck.
Your best response to persistent spam pressure is to return it in kind. Your Ki Pulses must be accurate and brave-but this is the only way.
Nioh 2 – How to Beat Saika Magoichi
Here is a video of me defeating Saika Magoichi after many failed attempts. This is not a perfect run without hits, but it shows how to use up his stamina to deplete his stamina and try to avoid his most powerful offense by using sprints.
Like Azai Nagamasa, Magoichi can choose from a variety of attack methods, and you need to be vigilant at all times.
Some of the basic combos he most often relies on.
The first is a four-strike combination with two slashes, one hitting the ball and then another. You can dodge diagonally backwards, avoid the range of this attack, and then punish him with your quick combo at the end.
Next, Saika Magoichi sends spam to 3 bursts of spam, you can step or sprint sideways to avoid all shots. It is also possible to be punished in the end, but you have to be close or he will continue to shoot while he dodges to the other side.
Rolling dodge is one of his most annoying weapons, and can be attached to the end of most of his combos. If you have less than a few seconds to punish him for an attack, expect him to roll sideways and fire when approaching. You can use your primary weapon to stop additional firing.
One of his most frustrating tricks is that he teleports over your head and shoots at you. When he does this, it breaks your locked state, so you need to dodge or sprint backwards to follow him behind and make sure you see the locked state in case the cap hits.
When he throws a bomb, he will step on or dodge. This was usually performed before he started shooting into the air. Step on or block these shots and then punish him with a slash when he pauses while landing.
Also in the air, he can use his claws to make unobstructed black and white dives. You must dodge backwards, but you should be punished when he lands. But be careful, he can link the two together without warning, so don't get too early.
It seems that late in the fight, he started to draw different melee combinations, where he combined some slashes for maneuver kicks.
He can mix the order and position of moves in this combination, so he doesn't have to attach to that order. It can contain 1 to 4 matches, but is easily interrupted. Step aside and take revenge to break the trend.
Magoichi's striker flashed closer. When he leaned down and his hands started glowing, he was ready to dodge backwards.
As for the blast counter, he has two varieties. The first has two forms, namely his whistle guardian bird. This can explode in four straight directions, which is easy to dodge.
When summoning a large number of fireballs, sprint around the edge of the arena, you should hit most of them to the ground and avoid subsequent shots.
The second is when he leans over and creates a flame blast on the sword. You want to counterattack the original slash suddenly, not the resulting shock wave. It's easier to do this face to face, but don't prematurely.
Generally, in battle, if you encounter trouble, you can use the pillars of the room as a cover for his shots. This gives you a clear space to repair when needed.
Unlike Boss Yokai, you can interrupt his attack in most cases (except when he is not in the air). If you are attracted by the dodge billowing, it's worth running around and chasing him halfway.
For the more dead-eyed, this battle can be turned into a sniper duel. The headshot of your own long-range weapon will knock him to the ground or knock Magoichi down.
It's difficult to schedule due to his dodging shot attack, but it will be possible and satisfying if you grab him between animations.

Or, if you need assistance with one of the more difficult tasks, follow these steps to make a wise judgment about the "big shift."
