What originally began as a strange coincidence has now become a permanent trademark of the Far Cry series: Every new Far Cry needs an eccentric villain who can be prominently featured on the cover. It all started with the legendary Vaas Montenegro, played by Better Call Saul
-Star Michael Mando, we last saw him in Far Cry 6 Breaking Bad
-Legends Giancarlo Esposito.
And another Hollywood legend is currently being discussed for Far Cry 7: Cillian Murphy, known from Oppenheimer or as the iconic anti-hero Thomas Fuckin’
Shelby in Peaky Blinders.
At least that’s what the well-known leaker j0nathan implied, who has been causing hair-pulling at Ubisoft for years with correct revelations. j0nathan recently posted the following picture puzzle on X (formerly Twitter):

Of course, it can be updated that Cillian Murphy will soon have to defuse a bomb in 72 hours as a crab, but… okay, that would be a pretty funny film. But it’s much more likely that this collage of images alludes to the previous leaks about Far Cry 7.

Far Cry celebrates its birthday: Ubisoft looks back on the last 20 years in the trailer
According to the also very well-known and unerring leaker Tom Henderson, Far Cry 7 should impose a time limit on you: As a member of a wealthy family, you have 72 in-game hours to save your kidnapped family members. The open world should be designed non-linearly, you decide for yourself whether it should be dad, mom, grandpa or someone else first.
Above the X-posting it says in French: Si rien ne change d’ici là, loosely translated If nothing changes by then
.
Important update: Meanwhile, leaker j0nathan has made it clear that his posting did not mean to indicate that Cillian Murphy is actually playing in Far Cry 7. The update says:

Loosely translated: Warning, I NEVER said Cillian Murphy would be in the game. The picture means something different.
What exactly it means is currently not clear.
Ubisoft is not currently commenting on the leaks and probably won’t do so for quite some time anyway, as Far Cry 7 isn’t scheduled to be released until 2025 at the earliest. There are two other major projects coming up for 2024: Star Wars Outlaws and Assassin’s Creed Codename Red, i.e. the Japanese Assassin’s Creed, which should appear at the end of the year.
