As if out of nowhere, the development studio Cold Symmetry announced Mortal Shell, a new Soulslike, the From Softwares top dog Dark Souls contest the territory want. In a first trailer, the developers are already showing what to expect. And that looks pretty impressive, at least visually:
What is Mortal Shell about?
Typical of the genre, the story circumstances remain rather cryptic: You are supposed to fulfill orders for a certain "Dark Father" in a time after the fall of humanity. Who exactly it is, you will have to find out for yourself. However, you do not play as a noble hero or fearless knight, but as the eponymous empty, "mortal shell". In addition, the story is not meant to be linear expire.
Picking up souls is elementary in Mortal Shell, both for gameplay and for the story. If you find the bones of fallen warriors on your travels, you can absorb their souls and thus gain new powers.
