After initial difficulties, No Man’s Sky by Hello Games has developed into a real long-running hit. The space epic is also to be optimized for the new virtual reality platform PSVR 2, but when can we expect a release?
Sony has presented the new virtual reality headset PlayStation VR 2 for the PlayStation 5 in detail and provided a price and release date. In this context, several other games have also been confirmed for the VR hardware. This also includes No Man’s Sky from Hello Games, which is actually already available, but which will receive its own update with numerous VR optimizations for the new platform. The only question is: when can gamers and potential PSVR 2 buyers expect it? There is now more clarity on this.
Hello Games has now officially confirmed that the PSVR 2 update for No Man’s Sky will be available right at the start of the hardware. You will be able to let off steam in the virtual shallows of space from February 22, 2023.
Sean Murray, founder of Hello Games, had already confirmed in June that they were working on a corresponding implementation for PSVR 2, but left open when a release could be expected. At the time, that was certainly also due to the fact that the VR headset itself had not yet received an appointment from Sony. Murray emphasized even then that the new technology “gives the opportunity to let the players immerse themselves on a completely new level”. This makes it possible to pair the power of the PS5 with the PSVR 2 hardware and the new Sense controllers.
After the Sony showcase, the description of the official trailer for the game was then revised. There was then a reference to a release in February 2023, which was communicated to colleagues from Eurogamer has been confirmed in the meantime: The update for No Man’s Sky will also be available for the headset launch.
Anyone who has already purchased the full version of the Hello Games title will receive the VR update for free. In this respect, you would only have to get a new VR headset on the PS5 to get started.
