Times change and so does the world. BlizzCon Live usually takes place at the end of the year and won’t happen this year, as event producer Saralyn Smith announced on her website.
Greetings to the Blizzard Community,
I hope you all stay safe and sound. As California gathering guidelines evolve and the status of the pandemic fluctuates around the world, Blizzard teams discussed what this means for one of the events we miss most: BlizzCon. We know some of you may wonder about his plans to cross the country – let alone the oceans – and meet friends, family, and other community members in California. So today we wanted to let you know that we have decided not to host BlizzCon this year.
Building a used BlizzCon is a quirky and complex affair that requires many months of preparation, not just for us but for the many talented production partners, esports professionals, hosts, artists, performers, and other employees we work with on site. and global to bring all the pieces together. The complexity and lingering uncertainties of the pandemic have impacted our ability to properly move forward on many of these fronts, and ultimately we’ve got to the point where we can develop the kind of event we’d like to create for you in November.
But we don’t want to waste too much time before reconnecting with everyone. In the meantime, we are planning a global event early next year. We’re combining an online mission modeled after our recent BlizzConline with smaller live gatherings, and we’ll be reporting more on that as our plans become reality.
We look forward to celebrating with you again. Until then, see you in Azeroth, Outland, Sanctuary, and all the other worlds we call home.
Saralyn Smith, BlizzCon executive producer
So now we have to wait until the beginning of 2022 (yes, we’re moving), if all goes well, for a new generation BlizzConline that obviously talks about all the Blizzard titles fans have been waiting for.
