The comic book adaptation of Cyberpunk: Edge Runner is out now, the only problem is you probably can't read it yet.
Undoubtedly, the big thing that saved Cyberpunk 2077 was its 2022 animated adaptation, Edgerunners, even though the animated series could easily stand on its own. While the game had its problems, the animation provided an alternative, perhaps more pessimistic but stronger perspective on the world of Night City, and it quickly attracted a lot of people. Now, as announced on the official Edgerunners Twitter account, a prequel comic called Madness has been released and the first chapter is already available to check out… unless you're like me and only speak English. Then you're out of luck, as it won't be released by Dark Horse Comics until 2025.

“Don't be mad at us for keeping it a secret,” the announcement on the official Twitter read. “The first chapter of the official Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Madness comic is now available in selected languages, with the full volume coming in 2025!” Those selected languages apparently include Japanese, but also German, Italian and French . The manga was actually created by animation producer Bartosz Sztybor, CD Projekt Red's comic book and animation narrative director, with Asano handling the art (they also adapted the manga for another Trigger series, BNA: Brand New Animals).

Sztybor also said on Twitter: “It's a day full of great news indeed! I'm so proud to announce that Edgerunners will have a prequel in comic form and I'm writing it! If you want to know a thing or two about Rebecca This comic is for you before Pilar joins Team Maine, it’s a dream come true!”
It was also recently announced that Cyberpunk: Edge Runner will be coming to Blu-ray next year, which is a rarity for a Netflix series, so keep an eye out for that news – not to mention the upcoming new animated Cyberpunk Punk” series on Netflix at some nebulous point in the future.
