Netflix once again pampers its subscribers by adding a great film to its catalog. Titane, Palme d’Or 2021, is now available on the platform. Reserved for an informed audience, Julia Ducournaus’s film is a must-see.

A Golden Palm lands on Netflix

Netflix has scored another big hit this week by adding a very great film to its catalog. Since yesterday, Titanium is officially available on the platform. Released in theaters in 2021, Julia Ducournaus’ feature film rocked the Croisette that same year before winning the most prestigious award, the Palme d’Or. A well-deserved success given the audacity of the director, who delivers a tough, raw, original and devilishly mastered genre film, carried also by Agathe Rousselle and Vincent Lindon, an absolutely brilliant cast here.

Titanium tells the story of Alexia, a murderous dancer who is forced to hide her identity to evade the police. She then pretends to be a boy who disappeared years ago and finds refuge with the young man’s father, a gruff fireman addicted to steroids and bodybuilding. Titanium is a must-see film, but be careful, it’s reserved for experienced viewers.

A Cannes shock

At its presentation at Cannes in 2021, Titanium caused a sensation and shocked more than one spectator. If the Cannes euphoria tends to exaggerate, the film is no less graphic, violent and disturbing. Subject to a ban on children under 16 during its theatrical release, “Titanium” underlines body horror with explicit body sequences. But everything is supported by the full mastery of Julia Ducournau, who, years after Grave, once again asserts herself as a pioneer of French genre cinema. In short, if you are looking for a frenetic experience that cannot leave you indifferent, we can only recommend that you start watching “Titanium”, now available on Netflix.
