game news “Not until 2024” Overwatch 2 fans are still waiting for this mode, but they feel like we’re fucking ourselves
Overwatch 2 fans are eagerly awaiting the first PvE missions in August, but it looks like they’ll be waiting several months for the next set.
While the upcoming story missions will certainly be exciting for Overwatch 2 story fans, the mission pack that is part of the “Invasion” update will unfortunately be the only one released in 2023.
Overwatch 2’s PvE content has generated controversy after controversy, with the community having a number of issues with this second installment’s new economic direction. First off, getting rid of hero mode and skill trees was a blow. Then fans learned that to have permanent access to story missions they had to pay a minimum value of $15 per mission deck. Now PvE players have to deal with another sad news as the next missions won’t appear until 2024.
No additional PvE missions before 2024
During an interview with streamer Emongg, Jared Neuss hinted that the next PvE missions will not be released in Season 7 or 8 as the start date for the next missions is still undetermined. With Overwatch 2 seasons spanning several months and Season 6 not starting until August 15, players can expect the sequel missions around March 2024 should Blizzard decide to release the Season 9 gameswhich is not even certain.
Neuss explained the reason for the long wait as Blizzard wanted the opportunity to consider community feedback on the first three missions of Invasion. Blizzard could then work to improve future missions based on player feedback, modifying or adding various mechanics.
