You can’t say anything these days! Stupid people say a lot. You can actually say whatever you want. For example, you can confidently say that there are things you could have gotten away with in a game thirty years ago that simply don’t work now. It’s like…a racing game with only one track. A 20-minute platformer if you’re good at it. Games treat non-white straight men badly.
Attitudes and expectations change over time—sometimes for progress, sometimes for regression. But whatever the reason, it did result in a lot of otherwise good games being consigned to history’s cabinet of shame. These are games that are hard to sell or borderline offensive right now, but are great to play.
So, which one is the best of them all, according to our esteemed panel of experts? This week, Tom and I are once again joined by Richie Morgan from I Hate Doctor Who and Owen O’Donnell from Infinite Review, two men who remember the past almost as much as Tom does.
