The Disney+ series “Obi-Wan Kenobi” is now finally over. Fans have been hoping for a sequel for a long time, but this announcement now leaves no room for speculation.
Many “Star Wars” fans would certainly have wanted a sequel to the Disney+ series “Obi-Wan Kenobi,” but unfortunately we now have the bitter certainty. And not even through an official cancellation, but through the announcement that the series will now be released in 4K UHD and Blu-ray sets.
The covers for “Andor” Season 1 and “Obi-Wan Kenobi” were shown via the Star Wars channels on social media. The latter with the addition “The Complete Series” i.e. “The Complete Series”. So there won’t be a second season.
Lead actor Ewan McGregor last said in January 2024 that he would like to do a second season, but this is not yet in discussion (via Variety). There’s a lot going on at Disney right now, said the actor.
Last April, Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy announced during the Star Wars Celebration that “Obi-Wan Kenobi” Season 2 was not in “active development,” US magazine reported.TVLine“. But she wasn’t averse to a sequel at the time.
