Fallout: New Vegas fans will love it obsidian Develop games, and a new interview with the studio’s CEO suggests he’d love to do another one, too.
Earlier this month marked the 25th anniversary of the original Fallout, and to celebrate DualShockers spoke with Obsidian CEO Feargus Urquhart and discussed with him whether the studio will return to the series. “If we had the chance to make another Fallout game, we’d be successful,” Urquhart replied when asked if Obsidian would agree to develop a new game.
“There’s not even a question of whether we’ll do it, just ‘Will there be an opportunity?'” Urquhart continued. “I probably stayed at Interplay for an extra year because I wanted to study Fallout more. I love Fallout.” Obviously, that’s not what he said it would happen, but fans kept hoping it could, because Microsoft acquired Obsidian in 2018 and then acquired Fallout rights holder Bethesda through the acquisition of its parent company ZeniMax Media.
Of course, the next Bethesda IP everyone is looking forward to is starry sky, was originally scheduled to launch next month, but was ultimately, unsurprisingly, pushed back to 2023. Although it was announced way back in 2018, we didn’t really get a proper look at the game until it received its first gameplay trailer at the Xbox and Bethesda game showcases back in June. Starfield doesn’t currently have a release date, but it should launch in the first half of 2023, giving Bethesda plenty of time to actually show off more games.
While Fallout developed by Obsidian is only hypothetical, Todd Howard has already said about Fallout 5, but don’t get your hopes up for it coming out anytime soon, as it is expected to be the next game after The Elder Scrolls 6, also announced back in 2018 year. So Fallout 5 is expected around 2030.
