Resident Evil 7 can be updated on PS5, Xbox Series and PC in a version that is, above all, graphically successful. But some gamers are furious with the PlayStation 5 grind and here’s why.
Resident Evil 2, 3 and 7 got a free update on consoles and PC, but the PS5 is holding its own against PS Plus subscribers and infuriating them. We’ll explain why.
An incompatibility of the PS+ version of Resident Evil 7
As reported by IGNPS5 players suffered a bit of a setback after the announcement of Resident Evil 7’s next-gen free update, which brings various technical or gameplay improvements. This patch is available to everyone unless you have purchased RE7 through the PS Plus Collection. A program reserved specifically for every PlayStation 5 buyer. There is there fore only one way to fix this problem: buy RE7 in physical or digital version.
As a reminder, this new generation RE7 update adds ray tracing, a higher framerate and on PS5 3D audio, as well as DualSense compatibility.
These upgrades add ray tracing, 3D audio, and support for DualSense wireless controller capabilities that add even more immersion, and we can’t wait for them to get into your hands.

A possible solution?
That the PS5 update wasn’t offered to Resident Evil 7 PS Plus subscribers was “expected” as there was a precedent. When FF7 Remake entered Sony’s service, it was impossible to enjoy the technical improvements without purchasing FF7 Remake Intergrade. Square Enix and/or PlayStation then backed out. We are therefore not immune to a reversal of the situation.
