Because of Corona, the Olympic Games in Tokyo will start this summer with a year delay. An accompanying official video game should of course not be missing as usual.
A major sporting event without its own video game implementation has actually not existed for many years – and the Olympic Games in Tokyo will not be an exception in this regard. SEGA of America has now announced the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 – The Official Video Game.
Just in time for the start of the summer games in Tokyo, which have been postponed by a year due to Corona, the new title will also be available for Switch, PS4 and Xbox One. The release has been confirmed for June 22, 2021.
In the title you can expect 18 fun Olympic events, an extensive editor for your own avatar as well as local and online multiplayer modes for up to eight players. The 18 disciplines, which of course can also be played solo, are:

- 4x100m relay race
- 110m hurdles
- Hammer throwing
- Jump far
- Baseball
- Basketball
- Beach Volleyball
- BMX
- Boxing
- Judo
- Sevens rugby
- Soccer
- 100m freestyle (swimming)
- 200m individual medley (swimming)
- Sport climbing
- Table tennis
- Tennis
With the mentioned avatar creator you can create your dream athlete according to your ideas. There are more than 100 different and colorful items of clothing to choose from, from traditional outfits to pirate or astronaut costumes.
There are also ranked games and global leaderboards in multiplayer.
