“Like a Dragon: Pirates of Hawaii” just released a new trailer in today’s Xbox Partner Preview, and the release date has been slightly moved up to February 21, 2025.
The swashbuckling action-adventure, starring Goro Majima as the sole protagonist, is the first in the series’ history and will be similar in style to last year’s Yakuza Gaiden: The Man Who Erased the Name, announced at the RGG Summit in September. A lot of people, including me, rightly thought it looked fun.

In the fresh trailer, we see Majima actually sailing on his ship, which you can customize with colorful bow statues, sails, and other parts to make it look as stylish as you like. It seems you can fly a black flag, especially when you visit Madeleine, which is run by a bad guy named Queen Michelle.
There’s a pirate colosseum where you’ll have fun little sea battles with different captains, seemingly owned by a man named Raymond Law (played by AEW wrestler Samoa Joe) Run by the Pirate King. Oh, and in case I forgot, it turns out Taiga Sashima is also in the game, and he seems angry that Majima forgot about him and died of amnesia.
If you missed the previous trailer for Pirate Yakuza In Hawaii, the game uses a lot of the locations and assets from Like a Dragon: Infinite Fortune – the story is set in Hawaii, where Majima has forgotten who she is and mysteriously crashes Got there and met a boy named Noah Rich – some new content added.
Set against the backdrop of the events of Infinite Fortune, which tells the story of the aftermath of Kasuga Ichiban’s efforts to thwart the Parekana cult’s plans, you’ll be able to explore the game’s Hawaii map, as well as Madelantis and Rich Island, the latter of which is where the game begins.
If you’re looking for a more straightforward Yakuza remaster, RGG has also announced a Nintendo Switch port of Yakuza: Like a Dragon, and the Yakuza: Like a Dragon TV series will be available on Prime Video on October 24th.
