Judging from Steam reviews, Elden Ring’s Shadow of the Erdtree DLC initially performed worse than many expected, with many PC players initially expressing dissatisfaction with the difficulty and some performance issues of the expansion pack. However, now, the expansion pack has returned to the ranks of “mostly positive reviews”.
If you missed your chance to watch it, first of all, congratulations, and secondly, the FromSoft community spent a lot of time arguing about whether Shadow of the Erdtree’s initial difficulty was a bit too high, and later patches made things a bit easier. Add in some frame rate issues, and a neutral verdict was ultimately reached.

However, as spotted by GamesRadar, the expansion’s rating on Steam has now risen back to over 70% positive reviews.
So now you can sleep well again, even if the DLC still has a long way to go, but will it ever make it from “mixed reviews” to “mostly positive reviews” to the “very positive” mark the base game currently sits at, with around 89% of the reviews being people expressing their enjoyment of getting beaten by Malenia.
In line with this, many people’s opinions of the DLC may have changed in the days following the release of the aforementioned balance patch, and furthermore, many non-players who tried to enter the game again after the DLC was released, but were not convinced, may well have left a negative review early on and then moved on to play other games, which is their right.
If FromSoft can find a way to permanently fix those frame rate issues people are experiencing, then the DLC will likely make more progress.
