After the horrific hack that hit Game Freak, one of the upcoming Pokémon games is leaking again with promising revelations never seen before in the famous license.
Last week, a massive leak revealed no fewer than three new Pokémon games currently in development. As a reminder, we learned more about Legends ZA, Gaia, the game that ushers in the 10th generation of the license, and Synapse, a multiplayer game. It is precisely the latter that is leaking again and features mechanics that are almost never found in the still productive series.
A new Pokémon game that’s upending fans’ habits?
With the Legends series, the Pokémon franchise finally offered a welcome change from the formula we’ve known for years. However, behind the scenes, Game Freak, in collaboration with ILCA (Diamant Etincelant et Perle Scintillante), developed another game with the aim of changing the situation further. Currently known by the codename Synapse, this is the subject of a new leak following last week’s news.
We learn that he went by the codename Rodeo for a while. This choice is clearly non-trivial for this multiplayer-focused Pokémon game. In fact, one of his main mechanics would be riding pocket monsters and sending Pokeballs from their backs at those you want to catch. Another big change for the Pokemon license, said to be inspired by Splatoon: the presence of weapon equivalents to help our companions in a game focused on combat. It seems that Palworld has influenced Nintendo and Game Freak more than you think. Perhaps the famous patent that led Pocketpair to take the Japanese giant to court came from this new game.
In any case, this famous Pokemon synapse would target the Nintendo Switch and mobile devices as its main platforms. Given the multiplayer component, we can bet that some form of cross-platform or cross-play will be considered. However, to be sure, we will have to wait for more concrete and official information. This is as much about the gameplay as it is about the name or even the release date.
