One of the most popular Final Fantasy games of recent years could very well be about to surprise everyone by landing on a brand new platform.
The Final Fantasy license now includes several dozen games, if we count the main and numbered games as well as the spin-offs. The latest major title to date is none other than Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, the sequel to the 2018 remake. Shortly before that, Final Fantasy 16 tried to give the franchise a boost by bringing in new talent.
XXL games that worked well but fell short of expectations. If there is a Final Fantasy that is running at full speed, it is FF14. The MMO is a hit on PC, PlayStation and Xbox. But that is of course not all and Square Enix could well have other ideas and FF14 could soon surprise us.
Final Fantasy 14 soon on a new platform?
According to Exputer, who is generally very well informed, Square Enix has teamed up with Tencent to develop a new version of Final Fantasy 14. According to information from the specialized site, FF14 will soon be available on mobile devices. In fact, the two giants came together in 2018 and during that time signed an agreement to collaborate on several projects. Later we learned that one of them was canceled, a NieR mobile game. However, other games are still in development, including the famous FF14.
This news is surprising, as FF14 is still quite a piece. It’s hard to imagine the game being adapted as it is, so the option of a special adaptation is preferred here, like Final Fantasy 15, which was entitled to its Pocket Edition. At the moment, this is all pure speculation, as Square Enix hasn’t made anything official. But it could well be that something is brewing in secret.
