Warning, some of us might be struggling with nostalgia tears: One of the most popular Sims addons of all time is making its way back to us. Die Sims 3 is still considered the most popular and best part among fans – not least because of its legendary generation extension aka “Joy of Life” – which managed to accompany us in a credible human life from birth to death.
It had been known for a while that there would be another major Sims 4 expansion for 2023, and EA wasn’t exactly squeamish with hints that this could be a new edition of joie de vivre. Now it’s finally official. The new addon is called: Growing together.
That’s in “Growing Together”
At that time, the Joy of Life expansion brought numerous activities and special moments for all age groups: imaginary friends for small children, countless clubs and associations, boarding schools, school trips, wild teenage rebels, first love, proms, family life, midlife crises. For a little pack of nostalgia, you can find our test video from that time here:

The Sims 3: Joie de vivre – Test video for the fourth addon
The Grow Together pack now sounds like a true re-imagining of the concept. Here, too, there is talk of phases of life such as the mid-life crisis and of special events such as sleepover parties, which previously had to be laboriously cheated into the game with mods.
But that won’t be the only content that has previously been among the most popular Sims mods. More complex relationships among family members are also in the expansion – as well as social likes and dislikes that can make for direct chemistry or hate at first sight – and has been a very popular feature in The Sims 2.
Seen in the first trailer, the new neighborhood of San Sequoia is a family-friendly coastal suburb. The video also confirms another hope: “Growing together” will finally bring working bicycles into play!
