News culture One of the worst superhero films of recent years is available for free on TF1+: it’s still better than Madame Web!
The Marvel Cinematic Universe continues to be disillusioned at the box office and it is not its distant “cousin” that could save it from an increasingly worrying situation. Sony’s Spider-Man universe is receiving the worst reviews with its latest films. The press is raving about Madame Web and this is not the first SSU project to cause outrage.
Morbius on TF1+
The TF1 group broadcast the much-criticized Morbius on the TMC channel and then made it available for free on TF1+ for a limited time. The adventure of doctor and vampire Michael Morbius, played by Jared Leto (Requiem for a Dream, Lord of War), can be watched on TF1’s SVOD service until March 26, 2024 (published March 18, 2024). It will then be permanently removed from the catalog until it may become available again for TF1, TMC, TFX, etc.

A driving Spider-Man universe
Morbius is the third version of Sony’s Spider-Man universe. It continues the work that Tom Hardy began with “Venom” in 2018 and “Venom: Let There Be Carnage” in 2021. Although “SSU” never really wowed critics, the first “Venom” still grossed $856.1 million at the box office, but only the curiosity of viewers who are fans of the character explains this success. The second film grossed more than 500 million, which is still a good showing, although Sony probably expected more from its golden-egg symbiote.
Then it’s a cold shower for th is alternate universe, despite an officially established connection to the MCU. Morbius is struggling to break the $165 million mark, while Madame Web is barely able to recoup its production costs.
