If you bought the standard version FIFA 22 on PS4 or Xbox One, You will not be able to upgrade to the next version for free-the privilege is locked behind the more expensive version.
Unlike last year’s FIFA 21, if you buy the game on the previous generation of hardware, you can upgrade the game for free, but only the ultimate version of FIFA 22 ($99.99/£89.99) will provide dual authorization, which is for players with plans More expensive to upgrade their hardware in the coming year to start the game.
This is revealed in the dual rights FAQ published by the studio. Anyone who wants to buy a cheaper version of the game at $59.99/£59.99 must purchase another copy if they want to play the appropriate next-generation version on PS5 or Xbox Series X/S. Unless you purchase the Ultimate Edition, there is no obvious upgrade path.
“Dual rights only apply to the purchase of FIFA 22 Ultimate Edition. FIFA 22 Standard Edition does not include dual rights. This means that if you purchase FIFA 22 Standard Edition on PS4 and later upgrade to PS5, you will need to purchase the PS5 version of the game. Play,” wrote in the release.
It is also worth noting that EA did not choose to take full advantage of Xbox’s smart delivery function, but deliberately locked the next-generation version of the game behind the additional payment level.
At least if you want to buy the more expensive Ultimate Edition, if you book before August 11, you will also get 4 days of advance access, a player worth watching, 4600 FIFA points and a FUT hero player.
FIFA 22 will be launched on October 1st with a new Hypermotion animation system. FIFA 22 game trailers will be shown as part of EA Play Live Spotlight on July 20th.
