Oscar Isaac also made a special request for Poe Dameron

Dameron, Isaac, Oscar, Poe, request, Special

The star wars franchise it is so extensive and rich that there are content creators who have been talking about its history for years… and it is far from over. Not only because his universe is constantly expanding, but because there is still a lot of material to discuss. Today’s post doesn’t tell a great story, but a truly curious detail.

Did you know Samuel L. Jackson, who plays Mace Windu in the prequel trilogy (Episodes I, II, III) isn’t the only capricious (in a good way) Star Wars actor? Let’s remember that your lightsaber is purple because he asked George Lucas himself. He explained to him how the basic colors (blue, green and red) work, but he insisted. And the rest, as they say, is history.

Redfall's bite hardly leaves a mark, but playing it on the Steam Deck gives it another flavor... right down to the Walkman effect.

Oscar Isaac, who plays Poe Dameron in the last trilogy (Episodes VII, VIII, IX) also became whimsical with one aspect of his character: his provenance or place of origin. Isaac asked that Dameron was a native of Yavin 4 specifically. His choice is not random or silly, and denotes some knowledge of the franchise on his part.

Yavin 4 is an Outer Rim planet that hosted the main base of the Alliance to Restore the Republic during the Galactic Civil War, which began during the Battle of Scarif (Star Wars: Rogue One). Later, the Alliance would change its base to Hoth and then to other planets. Returning to Yavin 4, it is a planet with lots of vegetation y large pyramids similar to the mayan style. The recreation of her for the movies was inspired by Guatemala.

Yavin 4

And at this point everything connects: Oscar Isaac was born in Guatemala and wanted his character in Star Wars, Poe Dameron, to be a native of Yavin 4 to establish a relationship between him and the reckless alliance pilot. While it wasn’t as lore-defining a change as Samuel L. Jackson’s purple sword, it’s certainly one of those cool-to-know details.
