Oscar Isaac was recently asked Metal Gear Solid The movie, he’s apparently still “hopeful” will still happen.
A Metal Gear adaptation has been in the works for nearly a decade, with Oscar Isaac joining the project back in 2020 as Solid Snake. We haven’t heard much since, but in a recent interview with Comic Book, the actor talked about the project, even if he doesn’t have an exact update on what’s going on.
“We want it to happen,” Isaac said. “Get excited. What’s the script? What’s the story? What’s your opinion? […] But hopefully it will happen because it has a lot of potential. It’s an incredible game. this is my favourite. ”
When he asks what the script or the story is, it’s a little unclear what the Star Wars cast actually means, although he’s probably just asking from the audience’s perspective. The film is directed by Kong: Skull Island director Jordan Vogt-Roberts, who is presumably still attached, Pokemon: Detective Pikachu screenwriter Derek Connolly in charge of the script, and original producer on the Spider-Man trilogy Avi Arad is in charge of production.
Metal Gear Solid obviously has a lot of cinematic roots, as creator Hideo Kojima is a well-known fan. So, given the fact that Kojima didn’t make it into the film industry, the existence of this project is a mixture of fate and irony.
Video game movies tend to be mixed, but the recent trend is that they are actually good and even make some money. The quality of the Uncharted film is debatable, but it did make a ton of money at the box office, with the second Sonic film making more than that, with the third film and the Knuckles series coming soon.
