Outriders are not the most primitive games. But when so many three A-class robbery shooters have failed recently, isn't execution important? With a large number of war machines, a large number of mass effects, and a small number of national anthems, Outriders may reverse the tide.
People Can Fly is probably the most famous studio, the studio behind Bulletstorm, and its collaboration with Epic Games' Gears of War: Trial and Fortnite's Early: Save the World.
Interestingly, how close Outrider's core shooting is to Gears of War, its intensity is similar to its "over the shoulders" perspective, and the character violently blocks between cover, launching a large number of explosions from overdesigned weapons.
However, Outriders are not in trouble, but instead try to create a familiar format through interconnected open environments and more emotionally intelligent storylines, like how Gears has reimagined itself in recent years, and a bustling hub area like Anthem / Destiny .
Sleep
The fugitives fled from a dying earth in search of a livable planet, and they thought that when they passed the distant Enoch planet, they had discovered a golden world.
When their new home is not as hospitable as they hoped, the situation for soldiers and scientists quickly deteriorates, where intimate contact with mysterious anomalies forces your creators back into thirty years of frozen sleep .
You will wake up with a black and dirty attrition battle between your ex-friends and a group of crazy Max Max Fury Road-style savages, with a powerful Altered (obtained by exposure to anomalies) Magical space power person).
As a person on the verge of change, you are responsible for ending hostilities, creating a new life for yourself on Enoch, and understanding the anomalies.
Similarly, it is a hodgepodge of familiar elements, in line with the "creative anthem" in Anthem, the Guardian of Destiny, and the theme of extraterrestrial wars seen in everything from "halo" to "mass effect" echo. But this does not mean that it is not attractive.
If foreseeable, setting up and re-introducing your device before and after the time jump is obvious. While agitating Enoch's wild habitat into a desolate no man's land, one can fly the grim reality that it is trying to create.
You can attack the main task as expected, while discovering other tasks by exploring hidden paths in the open environment. These usually take you to a separate side area with one or two huge closets to shuttle through and finally a tough boss.
The conversation options you find throughout the conversation are definitely inspired by BioWare, and it's clear that People Can Fly tries to give the same Commander Shepard role to the Outrider you created, backed up with a truly solid voice, and capture the hero and heroine which performed.
However, this is not perfect. Things may have moved to preview, but in the early side missions there were some tonal lashes, from drowning water to drowning in the blink of an eye to helpless guys.
Choose your strength
As a "mutant," your character has elemental powers aimed at military forces and aggressive indigenous wildlife, as well as more conventional weapons.
Outriders are designed for 1-3 player collaborations, and we can access the following three categories in the preview: Devastator, Trickster, and Pyromancer.
Each category has a set of "gun-style" powers when it cools down quickly and should be used heavily in combat. Often, they work very similarly to the biological capabilities in Mass Effect, providing offensive and defensive properties in scrap.
All classes do not have a medical kit, but instead use different healing mechanisms to enhance their vitality in battle.
The scammer is a close-range DPS squad who uses time magic to manipulate their mobility and enemies. They can teleport behind the bad guys and launch extremely powerful sword-wielding attacks, and their main skill is a large slow-down time bubble, which can not only trap the enemy, but also capture bullets, which can be used as an additional partitioning tool.
Whenever they kill enemies at close range, their health is replenished, giving them strong resistance and strong defensive capabilities-easily making them the strongest of the three.
Vandals are tanks. They have the skills of rock armor, can hide their body in the stone, and can withstand high earthquake AOE. They can also heal themselves from enemies defeated at close range, and may be good for solo because you can make the most of their survivability. However, they are definitely the least ostentatious of the three, and the power and firepower of the blue electric time make it bigger on the battlefield.
Elsewhere, the Flamingo is a hybrid of the two, swapping raw damage and health for Ranged Ranger AOE. In the early regions, this is by far the most chaotic category, as you can only be cured by defeating enemies marked by your abilities-so it's easier to get stuck in difficult situations. The flames and lava walls you can think of work well with other professions, so they are an excellent, flashy partner in a collaborative team.
Each class is handled differently, so this does not mean that you are just playing the appearance of the same action, and at least some meta games. But I think the balance will be adjusted in the last game because Trickster's league ranking is higher than other leagues. They have more flexibility and their skills are so powerful that you rely on them more than other classes. Although the Destroyer is similar to gunpowder, the former is more traditional shooting experience. Gunpowder needs to focus on continuous rehearsal to maintain health.
Shooting trophy
The more pedestrian side of Outriders is the booty cycle of weapons and armor.
The early game loot drops I encountered had the same problems as Ghost Recon: Breakpoint and Division 2. As the game progresses, you will collect more and more powerful beige and brown trousers and wear a larger number of clothes until you stumble upon a pair of black pants with great black potential. Now you get into the good stuff-there are 48 next to this.
This is in line with the gloomy fantasy pursued by People Can Fly, but it is hardly instructive-especially in the context of shooting with hands.
Again, this may happen in the future. We glimpsed Alter in a more stylish armor suit, but we don't know if you can get anything out of it.
One thing that destiny has become so right and Anthem has become so wrong is the booty, which feels special, powerful and different. By completing additional extra missions, I did get a higher level of weapons-I especially like a blood-sucking assault rifle, each shot can weaken health.
This gives me hope that there are more creative guns waiting in Outriders, but this is definitely something I will look for more, especially if I find that you are trapped in the lost and found office of the paintball center.
Reinventing the Dialogue
People Can Fly rejected Outriders' real-time service model, saying that it wants players to have a complete experience from the beginning, which may bring fresh air given its contemporary micro-transaction volume. It also failed to comply with the content roadmap of its commitments.
However, it is unclear whether this means that there are no loot bins, but final game content such as raids and dungeons after the story have not been announced.
However, I still like Outriders. This is the most solid state of third-person shooting, with amazingly powerful features that can form a tight and engaging core battle cycle. The premise of this story is also interesting, and although a bit unbalanced, it really depends on whether Outriders has enough diversity and plays a role in its loot shooting system to make it exceptionally long-lived and interesting.
Outriders were released on current consoles, PS5, Xbox Series X and PC around the 2020 holiday. The release date has been postponed from the summer to better align with next-generation hardware.
