Season 3 of Overwatch 2 is coming up, and a new blog post details what to expect from the new season. In addition to Asian mythology-themed skins, Overwatch 2 will introduce a new map, host a Valentine’s Day event, and add an unexpected crossover with One-Punch Man.
“Overwatch 2” will host a collaboration with “One Punch Man” from March 7th to April 6th, which is the game’s first major IP collaboration. During this time, One Punch Man-themed skins and cosmetics will be introduced to the game, including the Saitama skin for Doomfist, as well as Legendary skins that players can earn through themed challenges.
On top of that, Overwatch 2 is also gearing up for the meaningless holiday of next week, Valentine’s Day. The game’s ultimate Valentine’s Day event kicks off on February 14th and runs until February 28th, featuring a limited-time Hanzo 4v4 game mode, as well as supporting themed challenges where you can earn some epic skins.
The Loverwatch Dating Simulator is also coming out on February 13 (to February 28), which will allow you to play a text-based dating sim experience with one of two characters: Mercy or Genji. This runs for about half an hour and can be accessed from the Loverwatch web client, not in-game.
Next up, we’ll receive Overwatch 2’s newest map, the Antarctic Peninsula Control map. We took a closer look at the map last week, and how it adds to May’s backstory, and it seems the map has a lot to offer, including an underground drilling station and an icebreaker.
How have rewards changed? Well, Overwatch 2 has said it’s going to have more giveaways in Season 3 than before, including more rewards for simply logging in and playing. Almost all epic and legendary skins from the original Overwatch game, 300 in total, have been added to the Hero Library and can now be purchased with Overwatch Coins or Credits.
Most importantly, the price of legendary skins has been reduced from 1900 credits to 1500 credits. There are four earnable skins in addition to the battle pass, and this season, players will have the opportunity to earn additional free cosmetics. And, as if that wasn’t much, the first five tiers of the Season 3 Battle Pass will be given to players for free, just by logging in. very good.
Last but not least, Overwatch 2 Season 3 marks the return of PachiMarchi. In a new limited-time game mode called Kill Confirmed, players can earn new epic skins, PachiMarchi player icons, weapon trinket, and business cards for completing related themed challenges.
The third season of Overwatch 2 is sure to be one full of rewards and activities. Is this Blizzard’s attempt to make its horrible in-game monetization look and feel better? who knows. Let us know what you think.
Just a few days ago, Overwatch 2 detailed an update to its Defense Matrix Initiative, explaining its new approach to combating and punishing those who cheat or abuse others in the game.
