Things haven’t really gone well for Overwatch in the last few years. The half-hearted second part disappointed a large number of fans and Blizzard Entertainment was never able to achieve the success of the glorious early days. Now the studio seems to be going back to basics, or at least that’s what some evidence suggests.
Blizzard Entertainment is planning a big reveal regarding Overwatch for today, November 11, 2024. There will be a premiere on the official YouTube channel at 6 p.m. What exactly it will be is not known. The video title only promises a new trailer, and the description doesn’t reveal anything else.

There is a suspicion among fans that it could be a classic version of the first part. On the one hand, Overwatch’s tenth birthday would offer a welcome opportunity to revive the classic gaming feeling in a pimped-up form. That alone may not say much, but Blizzard provides further clues.
All images were recently removed from Overwatch’s official Instagram channel; there are currently only a few memes and other almost cryptic posts here. But the biography of the account is exciting because it says “What year is it again?” The question about the current year could mean that you want to go back in time with old content.
The fans’ guesses are rounded off by the teaser material for the trailer. The character Tracer can be seen more often in this one, but not in the new outfit from Overwatch 2. Instead, she wears her classic suit from the original Overwatch from 2016.
A possible classic version of Overwatch doesn’t seem so unlikely. After all, this tactic already worked more than well in World of Warcraft. However, it is questionable whether Blizzard is really creating a fully-fledged game; a special game mode with the old parameters, maps and rules for Overwatch seems much more realistic.
