As if news of Sonic getting a third film wasn’t enough, it looks like Pac-Man will also be getting his own live-action film.
Pac-Man is a video game series first conceived by Namco in 1980 and has since become a social phenomenon. As such, Pac-Man is no stranger to the world of television and film, having worked on two series on ABC and Disney XD respectively.
The Hollywood Reporter first reported on a new Pac-Man project in partnership with Bandai Namco Entertainment and Wayfarer Studios. The film itself is reportedly based on the original brainchild of Chuck Williams (from Lightbeam Entertainment), who is also an associate producer on 2020’s Sonic the Hedgehog.
Chuck Williams and Tim Kwok will both produce on behalf of Lightbeam, and Justin Baldoni, Andrew Calof and Manu Gargi will produce for Wayfarer. Tracy Ryerson will also develop.
More details on the film have yet to be revealed, but with Pac-Man and a new Super Mario Bros movie to look forward to, we hope we’ve learned a thing or two together from Sonic’s on-screen endeavors!
And that’s not all for the latest Pac-Man news. Later this month, the Pac-Man World Re-Pac will arrive. Re-Pac is a remake of the PS1 classic that finally brings Pac-Man to PS5 and Nintendo Switch.
Available for pre-order now, the remaster will be released on August 26, 2022.
