Paizo has established itself for months as one of the bastions against the controversial OGL of Wizards of the Coast for D&D. The publisher proposed its free alternative under the name of ORC, which it will apply to its products and one of them is Pathfinder 2E. The second edition of its star board game will receive a remastering to adapt to the new times.
This has been confirmed by the company itself through a blog post
How could it be otherwise, the compatibility with existing products will be total, updating rules, fixing errata, and building on player feedback to create simpler presentations. Therefore, this quartet of books will replace the Pathfinder Core Rulebook, Gamemastery Guide, Bestiary, and Advanced Player’s Guide, all of which will not be reprinted and will run out of current stock.
This does not mean that they will no longer serve us to play, since the bulk of the rules will not be modified and it is expected that the information will be unified. One example of this is that Pathfinder Player Core will “collect all the important rules for each of its featured classes into one volume”, rather than spreading them out between the Core Rulebook and the Advanced Player’s Guide.
However, the most important change is that ORC will be incorporated as a new basis for third-party publishers who want to use these new books. Thus, we will see a “removal of alignment and a small number of OGL-exclusive nostalgic creatures, spells, and magic items.” Once again, from Paizo they insist that they are perfectly compatible to play, although “they will not appear in future versions of Pathfinder”.
