Despite all the discussions about the possible violation of Pokémon copyrights, Palworld remains the title of the moment. Even days after the release, the number of players apparently only knows one direction – upwards!
For a little over a week now, Palworld has been available as an early access version on Steam and as a game preview version on the current Xbox consoles. Anyone who thought that the initial hype surrounding the survival game with Pokémon bonds would die down pretty quickly would be disappointed. The number of players now apparently only knows one direction, namely upwards!
Palworld has once again set a new user record on Steam. More than 2.1 million gamers played the title simultaneously within the last 24 hours – more than ever before. Specifically, the new record is now 2,101,867 gamers. Day after day, the game from developer PocketPair has continued to grow in this category – until it sets this new record.
It was previously announced that Palworld sold more than seven million copies within the first five days of release. This value has also increased further in the meantime: within the first week of sales the mark of eight million sales fell – an immense success for PocketPair.
Palworld is anything but undisputed. Although the game is more of a survival title, the parallels to Pokémon cannot be ignored. Many of the creatures in the game called Pals, which can also be caught, are quite similar to individual Pokémon. This circumstance has now brought the lawyers of Nintendo and The Pokémon Company onto the scene, who are taking a close look at any possible copyright infringement. This could potentially have legal consequences for PocketPair – depending on what conclusions the lawyers come to during their review. Regardless of this, parts of the Pokémon community are almost downright angry – there is no other explanation for the fact that the developers of PocketPair were sometimes confronted with death threats because of the supposed copies.
For the time being, PocketPair will of course absolutely stick to its successful title and has already promised numerous new contents. A roadmap suggested that in the future there would be, for example, PvP, raid bosses and a special Pal PvP arena.
