Panic since the announcement of Annapurna, but Remedy calms

Annapurna, announcement, calms, Panic, Remedy

Since the shocking Annapurna announcement, there has been panic, especially among fans waiting for Control 2, but Remedy then issued a statement to calm them down.

Annapurna Interactive, the renowned publisher that has backed excellent games such as Outer Wilds and Stray, recently caused a complete surprise when it announced a mass resignation within its management. However, for its next titles such as Control 2, Remedy had signed a co-financing agreement with the company. Which could legitimately raise concerns about the future. But ultimately, it would cause more fear than harm.

Remedy retains control 2 over the future of its future projects

After the excellent first Control, Remedy bought the rights to the license from 505 Games, giving itself… complete control over its future. Control 2, currently in development, will therefore technically be an “independent” game, unlike Epic Games’ masterful Alan Wake 2. However, Remedy has signed an agreement with Annapurna to co-finance this obviously major project. But just recently, the renowned publisher has been rocked by mass resignations.

Many fans were rightly worried and wondered what would happen to Control 2 and other upcoming Remedy productions. However, Thomas Puha, communications director of the talented Finnish studio, responded reassuringly. ” Many people contact us with news about Annapurna Interactive. Thank you for your attention! But Remedy’s agreements for the rights to Control 2, Alan Wake and the adaptations of its licenses have been made with Annapurna Pictures. I hope it is clear, it is 5am in Finland and I am feeling the effects of jet lag ».

The situation at Remedy therefore seems to be under control. However, this is not the case for other games that work with Annapurna Interactive, such as Silent Hill Townfall or Blade Runner 2033. Let’s hope that the situation at the publisher will soon find a happy ending. Control 2 and the Finnish studio’s other projects are in any case basically out of danger.
