Paradox Interactive has several very successful licenses under its belt, including Europa Universalis, which could have the right to a new installment.
Paradox Interactive appears to be setting the stage for the highly anticipated release of a new game, currently codenamed Project Caesar. Although the official name has not yet been revealed, the first details shared by the development team suggest that it could be the fifth installment in the famous Europa Universalis series. A whole program that is already the dream of many fans on the official forums and on social networks.
Paradox is teasing, Europa Universalis 5 on the way?
As part of their Tinto Talks, Paradox highlighted the cornerstone of their new game: a believable world. The latter is based on several sub-pillars, including population simulation, which is the basis for economic, political and military conflicts. The aim of this simulation is to offer an immersive experience, far from the abstraction of a board game.
Each location on the map, which can vary from one to a billion residents, has “pops,” or population groups, defined by three key attributes: culture, religion, and social class. With over 27,000 different locations, the game promises unprecedented richness and variety. The “Pops” will have a direct impact on technological progress, general happiness and thus the stability of the country.
The project uses the experience gained by Paradox. Especially with the release of Victoria 2 14 years ago, which already offered a deep political system. With Project Caesar, the company wants to improve performance by relying on optimized coding. Despite the increased complexity, it promises a smooth experience. But then what is it about?
The long-awaited project?
Fans are already speculating about the identity of the project after analyzing the first images and information. We rely heavily on Europa Universalis 5. The presence of various “pops”, ranging from simple peasants to nobles, clergy and commoners, and in some regions even slaves, provides a rich background for political strategies, complex economic and military ones.
Although the name Europa Universalis 5 has not been officially confirmed, the elements leaked so far are largely in line with the expectations of fans of the series. Publication is scheduled for next year. Project Caesar could be Paradox’s next big historical strategy title. It promises an even deeper and richer world simulation than its predecessors.
