Good times for CD Projekt Red and also Cyberpunk 2077.
Thanks to the latest updates, the Netflix series Edgerunners and one or two sales, the number of players in Cyberpunk 2077 has gone through the roof in recent months. But not only that: CD Projekt Red’s latest financial report reveals that it has also paid off financially to rehabilitate the RPG.
That’s what the official numbers reveal
In fact, the studio was able to break an in-house record with the most successful third quarter in the 28-year history of the overarching CD Projekt Group – as CFO Piotr Nielubowicz (via VGC) announces. And the dedicated development studio CD Projekt Red has made a decisive contribution to the company’s success.
Specifically, CD PR generated revenues of approximately $54.3 million in Q3 2022, while net income for the entire group was approximately $21.8 million. The entire company thus achieved a profitability of 40 percent, CD Projekt Red itself even 47 percent.

What are the reasons for that?
Nielubowicz personally attributes the success and the broken record to the strong sales figures of Cyberpunk 2077. The release of patch 1.6, the push from the popularity of the Netflix series Cyberpunk: Edgerunners and a timely sale for the role-playing game caused sales and player numbers to shoot up during the period.
After the disastrous launch at the end of 2020, the perception of Cyberpunk 2077 and CD Projekt Red has changed noticeably thanks to ongoing support – as is also reflected in the user reviews on Steam, for example. The development studio now also benefits from this financially.

Cyberpunk 2077 support isn’t over yet. CD Projekt Red, for example, has already revealed what upcoming patches and updates should deliver. Also coming in 2023 is Phantom Liberty, the first and only story DLC for Cyberpunk 2077, which even brings back Keanu Reeves in the role of Johnny Silverhand.
