The Division 2 is in a crisis and has already lost many players. The post-apocalyptic multiplayer shooter is plagued by numerous problems and provides little news for fans. A new, gigantic update should now be the starting signal for a new beginning, because according to the developers this update is only the beginning.
The new Update 9.1 will be released on May 12 on all platforms and delivers a new game mode around apparent zombies, a whole range of bug fixes, balance patches and other improvements to the game flow. The whole thing is a temporary event, which existed in a similar form a few weeks ago. The developers explain exactly what awaits you in the State of the Game Stream on May 6th, alternatively you can also view the patch notes on the official website of the game.
How the Zombies Work
Technology is the key: Already with the first The Division, Ubisoft emphasized that one should adopt a more realistic and credible tone, meaning that one did not really want to rely on supernatural powers. So how do zombies fit into the picture? The Division 2 explains the undead with special technology: Somehow, the enemy units with special equipment managed to get back into battle despite fatal injuries but with significant weakening. The team did not comment on exactly how this should work. Since this is not a story expansion, you should not expect explanations that are too elaborate. After all, it's more about the gameplay mechanics.
How to fight the undead: After they have been resuscitated, the opponents stand up again with a reduced life bar. Only after the second slaughter does the dead remain and you are safe. You can also use targeted headshots to stop them from reviving themselves. The problem: In the case of headshots, the nearby brain mass infects everyone nearby, so headshots can lead to other infected people (apparently a virus is involved, Ubisoft does not seem to be quite as sure …) or damage to you and yours Lead allies.

Is Division 2 getting his problems solved?
Should the whole thing be too stressful for you, you have the possibility to switch the event on and off at any time. This brings you back to the normal mode of The Division 2, which of course continues during the event. However, you will then miss some time-exclusive rewards that you can only get in the resuscitation event. We don't yet know exactly what it is. Since the update is just around the corner, concrete details should follow soon.
Fans have been speculating for a long time
Fan theories appeared on the Internet a few years agowhere fans of the game hoped for some kind of zombie mode. The setting, which with its virus theme provides a solid prerequisite for such a mode, was the perfect template for fans. So Reddit user XBgyManX wrote:
"Since the first trailer for this game, I've been expecting a zombie to emerge from some corner of the house. I want to see whole groups of them coming through the streets. I want to see Resident Evil 2 zombies that can be shot down while they're on shuffle one. "
This suggestion is just one of many on Reddit, but without exception, the community is absolutely negative about such ideas. One user even wrote:
"The day zombies are introduced to The Division 2 is the day I stop playing it."
Developers made fun of: The developers of Massive also got wind of the suggestions from the community and seemed rather less enthusiastic. With a joking survey of the first part of the series, the team actually destroyed all hopes of a zombie mode. You could vote on whether you wanted zombies in the game, but all the answers were "no". Nevertheless, the subject of zombies has long been anchored in the community, no matter what you think of it. That vote shows that the developers also seemingly played with the idea.
Now you have found a way in betweenwho implements the idea of the undead into the game as gameplay mechanics, but remains as firmly anchored in the established logic of the division's world as possible. But whether players are happy with that is another question. Nevertheless, a lot of problems remain, and apart from the hardcore fans, most players are unsatisfied with The Division 2. Colleague Dennis estimates for you whether the new update can solve the biggest problems of the shooter.
