The eagerly awaited RPG sequel Path of Exile 2 now has a rough early access launch date. In addition, other features such as couch co-op were officially confirmed at State of Play.
Grinding Gear Games brought its highly anticipated action RPG sequel Path of Exile 2 to PlayStation State of Play last night, which had already been confirmed for consoles. The free-to-play title – that’s now certain – is set to go into Early Access at the end of 2024; however, the developer has not yet announced a specific release date.
However, when presenting the latest trailer, the team also confirmed some new features for the promising newcomer, most notably couch co-op. Game Director Jonathan Rogers said: “Couch co-op is something we’ve wanted to do for a long time. Action RPGs are a genre that’s much more fun with friends, and it’s even better when you can play together in the same room.”
The couch co-op option is available on all supported platforms and only requires the presence of two controllers to play. Friends can then even start together with a single account, but there is also the option to log in with two separate accounts on the same PC or console.
In addition to couch co-op, cross-play and cross-progression between PC and consoles have also been confirmed. In addition, the usability for playing with the controller will be significantly improved and redesigned. Dual-stick controls and a new binding system that allows you to fully customize the control scheme with 24 binding slots, as well as a redesigned inventory management should ensure that the game is easier to learn and play. In addition, each skill has received special attention from the new team specialized in console gameplay to ensure that it plays well on a controller.
Path of Exile 2 will be released simultaneously on PC and consoles; as soon as there is a more concrete date beyond the general indication of the end of 2024, you will of course find out about it on igamesnews. You can watch the latest trailer below.
