The free action role-playing game Path of Exile has been rumored to be getting a native version for the PlayStation 5 for some time now. The release has been dragging on for several weeks, but now there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
Path of Exile is now a full eleven years old. During that time, the action role-playing game has received a number of updates and content expansions, and has also been ported to new systems. For example, versions for Xbox One and PlayStation 5 are available. Grinding Gear Games has also been working on a native version for the PlayStation 5 for some time, but it is still a long way off.

Now the developers have come forward in a new post and revealed fresh information about the status. According to them, we don’t have to wait forever, the port should land in the PlayStation Store “in the next few weeks”.
The studio itself is not the only one to blame for the waiting time, Sony also bears responsibility. Grinding Gear Games has to prepare the title for the certification process so that the native PlayStation 5 version of Path of Exile is not rejected.
According to the studio, the version will be treated like a new game, which is why all PS5 features such as parties and trophies will be included. The latter are of course already available on the PlayStation 4, but Grinding Gear Games has to create a new set for Sony’s new console. This is technically different, but ultimately they are the same achievements, which is why they are unlocked directly when you switch to the PlayStation 5.
It is currently unclear exactly how long we will have to wait. But the following sentence at least gives us hope for a quick release: “The game client is currently finished, but we still have to make a few adjustments to meet the certification requirements. The changes are small and should be done quickly.”
