As we reported yesterday, many Path of Exile players are dissatisfied with the new delirium mechanics, because one-shot kills & backtracking spoil the fun of the new league for many players.

Developer Grinding Gear Games responded promptly and presented a list of planned improvements last night – but for many fans, these changes are still not good enough.

The developers plan that

Community manager Bex published a manifest on the PoE website, which explains the planned changes and the reasons for them in detail.

The most important changes in a nutshell:

  • Monster damage: Reduced from case to case, the effects on death adjusted and the visual representation improved.
  • Rewards: Monsters that are deeper in the fog are weighted more to calculate rewards.
  • Hit weakening: The duration is significantly reduced.
  • Effects on death: The developers look at the modifiers of monster groups and balance them accordingly. Telegraphing will also be improved.
  • Delirium parallel to content from previous leagues: A certain amount of time is added to the delirium encounter for each interaction with older content.
  • Collected dropping of objects: Not currently planned.
  • Depth display for the fog: GGG is looking for a way to implement this.
  • performance: The developers are looking at this, but are currently not sure what is the reason for the recent deterioration.
  • Better visibility: This is being worked on.
  • Button for ending delirium encounters as a hotkey: Definitely comes.

The players are bothered by that

While the list of planned improvements is long, many players feel that developer Grinding Gear Games has not correctly identified some issues. At the moment, there are almost 2000 comments on the developer plans on Reddit.

Inuyaki writes:

"I don't understand how GGG can think that effects on death counter fast builds. These are the builds that have no problems. They destroy a group of monsters and then keep going anyway.

Those who have big problems are mediocre builds. If you have 10 monsters and you can only kill 3 of them, you must first run away before you can attack the remaining 7 again. It feels terrible. "

RsHavik believes that the dangerous and time-consuming delirium encounters just aren't worth it:

"Really not a big fan of this manifesto. The rewards are super disappointing in this league. I do T16 maps and 80% of the time I get the lousy armor / weapons / jewelry rewards that throw off absolute trash. Why should I want a buff that suits me instead of 4 lousy rare items now 5 lousy rare items? (…)
I am extremely disappointed. It's also really strange when a Legion crate almost always gives me more than a whole delirium encounter. "

Kinada350, on the other hand, finds the time-limited encounters rather unthinking:

"Delirium encounters shouldn't be time-limited. Time-limited content is bad and causes many of the current problems. To say that you want to slow down the game but then introduce time limits is really silly."

While many players still have hopes that the developers could deliver further improvements, a large part insists that the developers have deliberately misunderstood suggestions and criticism in the past. It remains to be seen to what extent Grinding Gear Games will react to the new criticism.
