As in many other industries, video game lounges have been hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic. In fact, distance measures and health protection are hardly compatible with a trade fair where visitors are very close to one another. The organization team of the American show Pax West has just announced the conditions under which visitors can visit the show. In addition to wearing a mask throughout their stay in the aisles of the show, visitors must provide proof of their choice:
Before entering the lounge, we now ask for proof of completion of a range of COVID-19 vaccines or a negative COVID-19 PCR test or an antivirus test. Each of these items is verified against a valid government issued ID. […]
The PAX team is strong in its commitment to health and safety and this includes a limited reception capacity and the permanent wearing of the mask by visitors, exhibitors, staff and security
Soon the same in France
Obviously, this situation does not affect French players, PAX West is a 100% American lounge. However, it can give clues to the same French players as to what to expect when the shows resume in France (once the Sanitary Pass goes into effect).
As a reminder, the Paris Games Week organizing team announced last June the cancellation of the 2021 edition of the show, which should have taken place next autumn, due to the “uncertain context” and the desire “do not offer reduced or downgraded experience.“
